AirAsia moves HQ to Jakarta in recognition of ASEAN 2015's business potential

Malaysian-based budget airline AirAsia will soon relocate its South East Asian regional office to Jakarta to serve as the company's headquaters.

“It will be the central office for investors to communicate with the company and for relations with ASEAN,” AirAsia Indonesia's CEO, Dharmadi, told the Jakarta Globe.

The planned 2015 launch of the ASEAN “open skies” policy is a major reason for the opening of a Jakarta office, which will also be able to lobby ASEAN directly for the continued loosening of previously restricted South East Asian markets.

"ASEAN is based in Jakarta and Indonesia will be the largest economy in ASEAN in times to come," AirAsia CEO, Tony Fernandes said.
